Do you have any organizations locally which are similar? Have you ever participated in such education? What would you like to see done towards educating health and social workers?

Do you volunteer in your communities? Apr. 9th, 2006 @ 11:46 am
Hi all, what do you consider to be your community/ies? If so how are you involved? Do you volunteer within them? Do you volunteer at your child/ren's school? In your local Kiwanis or Lions club? GLBT organization? Nationally? Are you out to anyone where you volunteer as a trans man? Do you ever have conversations about politics and various upcoming discriminatory issues on the ballots?

This was discussed last night at a Transgender Harmony meeting in Tempe, AZ and I felt the speaker brought up some great points. Definitly made me think how I can make a difference in people's perceptions just doing the things I'm already doing, but adding in a few more conversations about important issues.

What do you think about this idea? Do you think you can discuss discrimination without outing yourself as trans, or do you think outing yourself is an important part of grass roots activism? Why or why not?

I wrote in more detail about this in my own journal.

Updates? Mar. 10th, 2006 @ 05:05 pm
Hi all,

How is everyone doing? Anything interesting going on in your lives? Just the usual stuff? Please feel free to post an update or just chit chat.

This group has been very quiet since it started which leaves me to wonder if there's any need for it after all.

Home from hospital after chest surgery Feb. 27th, 2006 @ 12:48 pm
Hi everyone,
I'm home from chest surgery, and feeling great! Rather than do a long post in communities, I decided to do one in my LJ (and even that is mostly behind an LJ cut) and just post the link to my special communities. So the full report is at http://xxasimont.livejournal.com/64883.html
It's wonderful to be back- I missed LJ more than anything else on my computer!

Hi all,

My family and I will be attending a Transgender Rememberance day this coming Sunday at Arizona State University. Will any others here be attending or choosing to support from afar?

aches and pains Nov. 8th, 2005 @ 11:39 am
Anyone feel like discussing how their body is holding up these days? Mine's always achey and creaky, but that's more related to my disability than age as I've had that since I was 19. Anyone's body feeling any creakier over prolonged use of T, or do you think it's more an age related thing for you? semi related personal commentCollapse )

Just tryin to get some conversation goin on this list so if you have another topic, please post it :)

Adoption Oct. 8th, 2005 @ 05:42 pm
http://www.livejournal.com/community/_ftm_/499542.html brought up some really great thoughts that some of the guys here may be interested so I'm passing it along.

Have any of you here adopted or plan to adopt? I've always planned to until I hit my time of disability. We'll see what my future holds.

Male Pattern Balding Aug. 15th, 2005 @ 11:25 am
http://web.mit.edu/hudson/www has some great info on male pattern balding and various options to deal... something I'm hoping not to deal too much with, but have a contingency plan for awesome tats on my head if I end up bald some day since ya never know ;)

Thought I'd pass on the link in case anyone hadn't seen it already.

For those of your who are losing or have lost a good portion of your hair... have you tried various hair loss solutions or just dealt with and accepted it as a part of the flow of life?
